I'm Phoebe, and for three years I've taught at a preschool in Auckland.
Every day, the children hand me drawings full of love, imagination and, sometimes, pure chaos. Butterflies with rainbow wings. Suns with rays going in every direction, because why would a sun only shine one way. And families, so many families, with huge crazy smiles and even crazier hair.
The drawings piled up on my desk. Every week, a few felt too good to end up in a bin.
Then one parent asked me something I couldn't answer: was there any way to keep her child's drawing without it fading in a drawer, or on the fridge? There wasn't. Not yet. So I made one.
When she opened it, she burst out laughing and started bouncing on the spot.
That's the whole reason Doobee exists. I want children's brightest moments to last, and to stay close to the people who love them.

Why we don't smooth anything out
Most custom jewellery tidies a drawing up first. It straightens the wobble, centres the shapes, makes it "neater." We don't. A perfectly symmetrical heart isn't your child's, your family's, or your friend's heart. The wobble is the part that's really theirs, so it's the part we never touch.
